Too hot vs cooled down on the Coolabah Cooling Mat
Why they lie on the bathroom tiles

Your cat can't sweat.

Cats cool down by finding cool surfaces. The tiles, the bathroom sink, the window sill. But when the house heats up, those spots warm up too. And cats hide it by instinct when they are too hot, so you often notice late. Most cooling mats don't solve it. Gel mats leak, don't stand up to claws and end up in the bin after one summer. And many cats avoid hard, cold gel anyway and go back to the lukewarm tiles. The Coolabah Cooling Mat gives your cat exactly the cool surface they are already looking for: soft ice-silk fabric that's cool to the touch and draws warmth away through paw pads and belly the moment they lie down, with no gel, no power and no freezer. As one owner told us: "Her way to cope with the heat is to hide under the toilet sink." Another: "My cats like to lay on the tile in the summer."

Why cats love it

Cools through paw pads and belly

Ice-silk fabric is cool to the touch and draws warmth away as soon as your cat lies down.

100% gel-free

Nothing for claws to puncture, nothing that can leak or be licked up.

Couch, bed, catio, carrier

Soft and light. Fits their favourite spot or folds into the carrier for vet trips.

Machine washable

Cat hair, muddy paws: throw it in at 30 °C, dry in about an hour.

Coolabah vs. gel mats

Gel mats leak, puncture and scare cats off. Ours doesn't.

Your questions, answered honestly

My cat sleeps in the sink or the bath. Why?

She's looking for the coolest surface in the house, the way cats always have. Sinks, baths and tiles feel cool at first, then warm up to body temperature, so she keeps moving. Put the mat where she already goes and she gets a cool spot that doesn't send her searching.

How do I know if my cat is too hot?

Cats hide it. Watch for lying flat on tiles or in the sink, moving room to room, extra grooming and eating less. Panting or open-mouth breathing in a cat is an emergency: cool them gently and call your vet. Your free Cool Cat Summer guide covers it step by step.

We only have fans. Isn't that enough?

A fan cools you by evaporating your sweat. Dogs and cats don't sweat much, so on a 40-degree day a fan mostly pushes warm air around. As one owner told us: "in high heat it's just blowing hot air." A cool surface works on their belly directly.

Will my cat actually use it?

Most cats find it on their own because it's cooler than the floor next to it. Put it where your cat already likes to lie, with a treat or toy on it the first day. If yours won't use it, you have 90 days for a full refund.

How does it work without gel or power?

The top is ice-silk fabric, which feels cool to the touch and draws warmth away from the belly and paw pads, the thermal window where dogs and cats lose heat fastest. A breathable core underneath stops heat pooling. Nothing to freeze, fill or plug in.

What about claws?

There's no gel inside, so there's nothing for claws to puncture or leak. Kneading is fine.

Which size for my cat?

S fits most cats and kittens. M for large breeds like Maine Coons, Ragdolls and British Shorthairs, or if your cat stretches right out. You can choose a size for each mat in your bundle.

Can I use it in the carrier?

Yes. It folds flat into any carrier for vet trips and travel.

How do I clean it?

Machine wash on a gentle cycle and let it air dry. It's usually dry in about an hour.

What if it doesn't work for us?

Email us within 90 days and we'll refund you in full.
